E-Newsletter-February

Hello all
Another eventful month has passed. The RRCC committee would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new members of the RRCC.

NEW MEMBERSHIPS
John Usher, Dave Borger, Dolores Heavey, Peter Berryman, Bernie and Roz Biddulph, Brad and Lisa Clarke, Evelyn and Jack Durbridge, David and Tehani John, Leanne Martin, Steve Norregaard and Rob Walker.

WOMEN IN BUSINESS NETWORKING FORUM
The workshop was facilitated by Lesley Parker and funded by GEACC. It was a very successful event, we identified 2 women interested in starting a business, women wanting training to either re-enter the workforce or start a business, volunteers to help support the WIB and the RRCC, job seekers for the RRCC website and interest in community projects such as a middle school etc.
We will be having another WIB Forum on the 1st of April. Venue yet to be decided. We are planning for Jill Hutchison to facilitate two sets of workshops, one called ‘the best year yet’ and the other will be for business strategies.
We had some free airtime on the ABC radio where I was called one hour before for the live show and asked to speak about the WIB Forum. If I sounded nervous that was because I was! Great advertising and promotion of the RRCC, WIB and the region.

RCCIWA (Regional Chamber of Commerce Industry WA)
We are looking at Membership with the Regional Chamber of Commerce Industry WA so that we are aligned with the rest of the chambers across regional Western Australia. In being a member I as the representative of the RRCC will be on a Teleconference once a month with the rest of WA chambers where we get to provide each other with what is happening in each CCI and we can be a collective voice for issues that pertain to all of us or some of us. Within the RCCIWA the SBC Board have offered to receive any issues related to Small Business to be presented to the Minister for Small Business for discussion. As you can see the CCIWA and RCCIWA are very important organisations to be members of with great benefits for our members and communities. I will be attending a meeting in Perth with all the members of the RCCIWA and we will have the opportunity to address several Politicians of our choice. The choice of Politicians and questions must be decided early. The meeting is on the 8th of May.

CCIWA (Chamber of Commerce Industry WA)
We are looking at Membership with the CCIWA for a couple of reasons. One is for the new Service Agreement that gives our members access to huge resources and information free or at a low cost of $75 for half an hour and the other reason is for networking, information and to be kept up to date.
We also have access to the RCCIWA by being a member of the CCIWA. I will be attending a meeting in Perth for the CCIWA on the 9th May when I attend the meeting for the RCCIWA the day before.

KBCCI
The AGM was very successful in that I met and made good contacts such as Kitty Prodonovich the President of the RCCIWA and Kristian Stratton from CCIWA and of course Hugh Gallagher from KBCCI. Hugh and I will stay in touch as he is very resourceful and well networked.
They are keen to create a Sustainable Energy Policy which I feel is something that the RRCC could look at collaborating and support the KBCCI with.

TOURISM STEERING COMMITTEE
I am the representative for the RRCC on the Tourism Steering Committee. Tourism is very important to business and vice versa. If anyone has any suggestions they would like to put forward to the TSC that is beneficial to Tourism, business and the community then please let me know by emailing me or phoning me direct.

RRCC MEETING/DINNER
This was a successful evening in the fact that the speakers were great and we had a fantastic turnout. A few people got the wrong day so we hope to see them all at the next one J. The feedback was generally good and I believe the majority of the members found it very informative and great for networking.

ESPERANCE CCI
I have spoken with Jacqueline and Steve Neal and the Esperance CCI have now agreed to read any news or notices for the RRCC during their own time on Radio West 747 once a month, once again very generous.

Amanda Thomas ESP in Esperance would like the Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe women to go on a day shopping spree to Esperance by bus for shoes, clothes, movies and lunch etc. It is hoped that Esperance women would then come for a day outing to Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe for lunch, golf and any pampering.   Anyone interested in organising this please call me on 0409 370 625.

WEBSITE
Elisa Young is doing a great job with the website. It is live now and up and running. Elisa is still working on it so that members can have their own logons and update their own information. We are also going to have a chat forum for different groups such as RRCC members, the public and the Women in Business Networking Forum. Please keep the business profiles coming in as they need to be uploaded. If anyone needs a marketing consultant we can highly recommend Jill Hutchison who gave the marketing presentation at the RRCC meeting/dinner recently.

FEEDBACK FORM
Created for businesses to use for critical information to see how their business is being perceived by the customers and can then be valuable information for any adjustments necessary for a more financial and successful business.

OFFICE
We now have a new office thanks to Regional Stake Holders sponsorship. It is in the building with Taste of the Toun and we have a lease for 12 months. Still sourcing a desk and chair J

NEXT CHAMBER MEETING
The next RRCC meeting will be held in Ravensthorpe on the 8th April.
Would any business owner in Ravensthorpe like the opportunity to promote their business and hold the next RRCC meeting at their place of business? Please call me on 0409 370 625 if interested.

If any members have any innovative ideas for future RRCC meetings, promotion of business and the region we would love to hear them.
